Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty, often called a "nose job", is a surgical procedure that changes the shape, size, or proportions of the nose to improve its appearance, function, or both.
It can be performed for:
Cosmetic reasons – to reshape the nose for better facial harmony.
Functional reasons – to correct breathing issues caused by structural problems like a deviated septum.
Reconstructive reasons – after injury, birth defects, or previous surgeries.
Types of Rhinoplasty
Open Rhinoplasty– An incision is made across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils) to allow full access to nasal structures.
Closed Rhinoplasty– All incisions are hidden inside the nostrils; less visible scarring but limited access.
Functional Rhinoplasty– Focused on improving breathing rather than appearance.
Revision Rhinoplasty– Performed to correct or improve results of a previous rhinoplasty.
Recovery
Initial swelling and bruising: 1–2 weeks
Final results: 6–12 months (swelling resolves gradually)
Avoid heavy physical activity for several weeks
Nasal splints or bandages may be used for the first week
